Dr. John Hanesiak has been with the Centre for Earth Observation Science (CEOS) and Department of Environment and Geography at the University of Manitoba since 2001. His research and teaching has focused on atmospheric science with emphasis on severe weather, storms, surface-atmosphere interactions and applied meteorology. He has Lead and been co-investigator of many national and international field-based research projects spanning the Arctic to Central U.S. Plains, some of which include Storm Studies in the Arctic (STAR), Plains Elevated Convection At Night (PECAN) and Effects of Lake Breezes On Weather Manitoba (ELBOW-MB). He is the lead Instructor for Canada’s only for-credit storm chasing course, that began in 2005. His talk will focus on the storm chasing course evolution with some highlight photographs from past trips.
