Tina Simpkin delivers the weather forecast on Global News Edmonton at 11 pm weekday nights. Tina is originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia. That’s where she earned her degrees in Math/Physics & Meteorology from Dalhousie University. She started her television career in the United States working in Texas, Kansas City and Indianapolis. Living in Tornado alley enhanced her love of severe weather. She has spent many hours in a helicopter and on the ground chasing the storms she studied. She has a new appreciation of forecasting tornadoes and chasing in Alberta.
Tina holds her seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society. She has been given awards by the National Weather Service in Midland, Texas and Kansas City, MO for her work in bringing awareness to the public during severe weather in partnership with the NWS as well as working with SkyWarn spotter training.
When not working at Global News, you can find Tina watching her two children figure skate and play hockey. She also is an Operational Meteorologist.
